Spent most of its life in the warm climate of South
Africa and then dry storage in the UK; same owner for the last 20 years;
manual with overdrive; 3,400cc; matching numbers car
This Jaguar Mk II 3.4, was first registered in November
1967 and represents one of Coventry’s most elegant sporting saloons. Showing
just four recorded keepers from new and retaining its original UK registration,
this example is powered by the renowned 3,442cc XK engine paired with a manual
transmission, a combination that perfectly suits the Mk II’s refined yet
purposeful character.
Finished in what is
believed to be a. timeless shade of Willow Green, complemented by a cream
leather interior with traditional wood trim, it creates a classic and
highly desirable period ambience. The current vendor has owned the car 20 years,
underlining a long period of custodianship.
Assembled in the UK, the Jaguar spent much of its early life in South
Africa before returning to the UK around 1990, supported by a sequence of tax
discs spanning the 1990s and early 2000s. Following a subsequent sale, the car
moved to Ireland, where it was used intermittently on rallies while retaining
its UK registration, as it was never formally imported. Irish insurance discs on
file trace its use through to 2012.
In 2013, the
car unfortunately suffered an under-bonnet fire, resulting in significant
damage. However, this was addressed with a comprehensive repair programme,
documented by invoices exceeding €14,000, with the work completed in 2016. Since
then, the car has remained unused and has spent the last nine years in storage
within a restoration garage.
The Jaguar now runs
and drives as expected, having been started for photographs and a short video
here, though given the prolonged period of inactivity, the vendor sensibly
recommends a mild recommissioning before regular road use. With this work
undertaken, along with some careful detailing, this Mk II has all the
ingredients to become an exceptional example of the model, offering the next
custodian the opportunity to enjoy one of Jaguar’s most iconic saloons in a
highly attractive specification.
