Long term ownership with the
vendor since 2003; chassis-up restoration in
the early 2000s; now a rare and charming sight on the road; this example has
been used for touring holidays in France and for limited dry-weather use over
the last two decades
First registered in 1949, this
Triumph Roadster is finished in Royal Ivory and is powered by the 2,088cc petrol
engine coupled to a rebuilt 3-speed
column-change gearbox.
Correctly registered as a Historic Vehicle, it currently shows 37,686 miles,
although the vendor advises that the odometer is not presently recording
additional mileage. The car has been starting and driving on site for
photographs and video.
With the vendor since 2003,
the Roadster underwent a chassis-up restoration in
the early 2000s, and the results still present well today. The upholstery
appears in good order, as do the hood and hood cover, while the wooden dashboard
and door capping remain in excellent condition. A new battery has recently been
fitted, the tyres are good, and a new spare is included. The vendor tells us the
car is mechanically sound but would benefit from a service, as it has seen
limited use in recent years.
The Triumph Roadster was
produced in relatively small numbers in the late 1940s and is now a rare and
charming sight on the road. Known for its distinctive styling, leisurely touring
manners and the famous rear dickey seat, it has long been appreciated by
enthusiasts of post-war British
motoring. This example has been used for touring holidays in France and for
limited dry-weather use over
the last two decades, suggesting a gentle and well-cared-for
life.
The history file includes the
V5C, copies of old-style logbooks,
three old MOT certificates, restoration photographs, wiring diagrams and a few
invoices. A box of spares is also included and currently in
storage.
A well-restored and
attractively presented Triumph Roadster with long-term ownership,
good cosmetics and a pleasing history file — a delightful example of one of
Triumph’s most characterful
post-war
models.
