Series 2.25 petrol; canvas tilt; showing 32,384
miles; a very handsome short-wheelbase Land Rover; comes with a
set of five Wolf wheels fitted with Goodyear G90 tyres
Introduced in 1971 and produced
until 1985, the Land Rover Series III represented the final and most developed
version of the original Series line that began in 1948. While retaining the
rugged ladder-frame chassis and leaf-spring suspension that defined the
marque, the Series III gained a revised dashboard, improved electrics and full
synchromesh on all forward gears, making it more civilised without losing any of
its working-vehicle character. Widely used on
farms, estates and by the military, the Series III has since become one of the
most recognisable and enduring classic 4x4s, valued for its simplicity,
durability and unmistakable charm.
Finished in blue and fitted with a canvas tilt,
this 88" example is powered by the familiar 2,286cc four-cylinder petrol engine. Showing
32,384 miles, it is registered as a Historic Vehicle, bringing the usual tax and
MOT exemptions.
The current V5C records 13 former keepers. The
vehicle was driven to the sale and has been running sweetly for the photographs
and video, presenting as a very handsome short-wheelbase Land
Rover.
Adding to
its appeal, it comes with a set of five Wolf wheels fitted with Goodyear G90
tyres, a desirable upgrade for both appearance and
durability.
A
characterful and usable Series III, offered with historic status and some
worthwhile extras.
