Rare Golden Bullet variant of this funky Slovenian-made
moped; various performance upgrades including 75cc conversion; recently
restored with many new parts; very smart; very racy; very retro!
The Slovenian
firm Tomos started out in life in 1954 building Puch motorcyles under licence
for the Austrian firm Steyr-Daimler-Puch and, from 1959, they also built Citroen
2CV6, Ami and Diane cars under licence for the Yugoslav market.
From 1962 they began to produce their own range
of mopeds and remained in business right up until 2019 when it became too
difficult for the two-stroke engines to meet ever-more-stringent emission
standards.
A number of different models have
been available over the years, but they all follow the same basic format: a
pressed-steel frame housing a 49cc two-stroke engine mated to a two-speed
automatic gearbox with a top speed restricted to 30mph.
Tomos mopeds have gained a cult following over the years, especially
in Eastern Europe, and YouTube is full of videos showing how easy it is to boost
performance to 50mph+. Not that we would recommend this for road use in the UK,
obviously officer...
This particular Tomos A3 ML
is a rare Golden Bullet model and is dripping with trick performance parts.
First registered in November 1998, it shows five former keepers on the V5C and

We are told that the

to finish it off. Last ridden a couple of years ago, a precautionary
check-over is advisable before use. We are also advised that the number plate
currently fitted is incorrect: it should be F933 OFG not F399 OFG to match the
V5C (see last photo).
