Ford Kent
1.6-litre Crossflow engine; constructed in and around 2004; based on the book
“Build Your Own Sports Car: On a Budget” Currently not registered for road
use
This interesting little sports car was
built by the vendor using the Haynes publication Build Your Own Sports Car: On a
Budget, which provides a detailed guide to constructing a lightweight two-seat,
open-top Haynes Roadster using basic tools and readily available donor
components, principally from the Ford Escort.
Powered by a Ford Kent 1.6-litre Crossflow engine, the car appears to
have been constructed around 2004 and has subsequently been used for some hill
climbs and a little trials work.
The vendor
advises that the car is not currently road legal as it has not undergone the SVA
test, although it was constructed with the intention of meeting the necessary
criteria for the test.
It is currently running
and driving, as demonstrated while on site for photography and a short
video.
Accompanying the sale is a large
collection of photographs documenting the build and work carried out, together
with the original build manuals. An entertaining and unusual project for an
enthusiast, offering the opportunity to continue enjoying it in competition or
complete the necessary work to pursue road registration.
