First
registered in 1999, this striking Ducati 996BP features the iconic 996cc
Desmoquattro engine and is finished in classic bright red, the colour most
closely associated with Ducati’s superbike dominance of the era. The current V5C
shows only one former keeper, and both the owner’s handbooks and service book
are present complete with 2x keys and the Datatool fobs.
The vendor purchased the bike when
it was just six months old and gradually set about improving it with a series of
high-quality, period-correct upgrades. These include a
full 50mm Termignoni exhaust system, a Sigma slipper clutch, and Öhlins rear suspension — all desirable enhancements that
sharpen the 996’s already legendary handling and
soundtrack. Importantly, the original components are included with the
bike.
Two years
ago, the vendor — an aircraft engineer by trade — carried out a careful
recommissioning using OEM parts, replacing belts, refreshing fluids and ensuring
everything was brought back to proper mechanical health. Since then, the bike
has been run up to temperature monthly and kept on a battery conditioner,
ensuring it remains in excellent running order.
A beautifully kept and sympathetically upgraded
example of one of Ducati’s most celebrated superbikes, this 996BP offers the
raw, analogue thrill that made the model an icon of late-90s Ducati
engineering.
