Four owners from new; only 1,300 miles on new Ivor Searle engine;
recent new clutch kit; huge history file; driven 40 miles to the sale; a
pampered MG that is ready to enjoy
First registered
in Halifax in April 1965, this MGB Roadster has had just four owners from new,
according to the V5C, our vendor acquiring the car in 2021 from a Lancashire
gent who had owned it since 1995.
It comes with a
huge file of invoices to show careful maintenance and regular waxoil treatment
over the last 30 years, including a new four-synchro gearbox in 2007 when it was
showing c.12k miles on the speedo. No fewer than 27 old MOTs show that it has
always been in light regular use, covering some 17,000 miles since 1984.
Our vendor has kept the car meticulously
maintained during his five-year ownership, a quick tot-up of the bills showing
that he has spent over £7,500 on upkeep and improvements. Highlights include a reconditioned Ivor Searle engine at 15,878
miles; new clutch kit; carbs overhauled; brakes overhauled with new front discs
and reconditioned calipers; new exhaust; new seat belts plus various routine
service items. There are also bills for at least three services and a rolling
road tune-up by Nutts Performance Classics in January 2026 (see
photos).
We are advised that the car does not
have overdrive but the overdrive switch on the dash has been wired up as a
discreet immobiliser to prevent the car from getting stolen. A useful quantity
of running spares are included, along with a hood bag and a pair of new front
floormats.
As you can see in the photos, this
pampered MGB is in great shape for a 60-year-old and has been starting promptly
and running nicely on site, with healthy oil pressure. Driven some 40 miles to the sale, it is ready for a proud
5th owner to enjoy.
