Charming and seldom-seen 1950s Hillman; bench seat and
column-shift manual gearbox; showing 42,664
miles; now just over 70 years old – very much a blast from the future
past.
First
registered in 1955, this Hillman Minx Californian is an appealing
two-door variant of the popular Minx
range, distinguished by its three-piece rear window and stylish
fastback profile. Finished in a cream and maroon colour combination with a
matching interior, it retains the period bench seat and column-shift manual gearbox, giving it all
the charm and character of a true mid-1950s British saloon. Showing 42,664
miles, it presents as a delightful survivor now just over 70 years old
– very much a blast from the future
past.
Powered by
its 1,390cc petrol engine coupled to the column-change transmission, the car has
been starting and driving on site for photographs and video. The Californian
model is one of the more distinctive Minx variants, produced in relatively
modest numbers and now increasingly sought after for its styling and
rarity.
The
paperwork includes the current V5C, an old-style log book, eight old MOT
certificates, a workshop manual and a selection of invoices.
A charming and seldom-seen 1950s Hillman, offering a
wonderful period driving experience and an attractive colour scheme, ready for
gentle use or further sympathetic improvement.
