Recent
recommissioning; hard top; great history file; all original
features
This 1973 Triumph Stag has been
cherished and enjoyed for 45 years, covering 109,594 miles. It retains its
original V8 engine paired with the 4-speed Borg-Warner transmission and features
power steering, electric windows and the original interior fittings, all of
which reflect the care lavished on this car over decades.
A thorough history of MOTs from 1991 through 2018 confirms regular
use, and the Stag has recently undergone a comprehensive recommissioning,
including a full service in September last year at a cost of £748. It fires
instantly at the turn of a key and delivers a smooth drive accompanied by the
characterful V8 burble that enthusiasts will appreciate.
The accompanying file of invoices spans the entirety of the car’s
45-year life, highlighting meticulous maintenance and occasional major works,
including a £7,226 engine overhaul carried out by a respected local garage in
November 1989. The bodywork remains in good overall condition for its age and
mileage, complemented by the original alloy wheels fitted with a sound set of
tyres. The alloys have also been refurbished and enamel-coated to a high
standard.
This Stag comes with extensive
documentation, including a 2015 classic car valuation from Towergate at £15,000,
the original workshop manual, owner’s handbook, Rimmer Bros parts catalogue, and
a wealth of service records dating back over 40 years. Having been driven over
50 miles to the auction, it has been running, starting, and stopping as
expected, demonstrating its readiness for continued use.
A fine example of the quintessential British GT, this Triumph Stag
offers both history and performance in one iconic package.
