A remarkable 25 years of continuous
custodianship; classic black-black combination; rare turbo model; showing
162,384 miles
Introduced in 1985, the Porsche 944 Turbo (also
known as the 951) took the already well-regarded 944 platform and added forced
induction, transforming it into a genuine high-performance machine.
With
its 2.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 220bhp, the Turbo was
capable of 152mph and 0–60mph in just 6 seconds, putting it firmly in the league
of contemporary sports cars from Stuttgart and beyond. Balanced handling, thanks
to its transaxle layout, and distinctive wide-arched styling made it one of the
most rewarding driver’s cars of the 1980s.
This particular example, finished in black with
matching leather interior, is a manual gearbox coupe showing 162,384 miles. It
comes with a current MOT certificate valid until December 2026, offering
reassurance of its roadworthiness.
The paperwork includes the current V5C
showing six former keepers, though notably it has been with the same owner since
2000, backed up by the original purchase invoice — a remarkable 25 years of
continuous custodianship.
The 944 Turbo is rare, with just 25,245 built
worldwide compared to over 113,000 base 944s. Survivors in good order are
increasingly sought after, as enthusiasts recognize the model’s blend of
performance, usability, and exclusivity.
The car presents well, with its purposeful
stance and classic 1980s Porsche lines. The interior remains in good order, with
the black leather showing the honest patina of use but retaining its appeal.
Mechanically, the 944 Turbo is renowned for its robustness when properly
maintained, and this example has clearly been cherished over the long
term.
With
values of the 944 Turbo steadily rising, this car represents an excellent
opportunity. Long-term ownership, a strong MOT, and the appeal of a manual coupe
specification all add to its desirability.
