Early 'pull-handle' MGB; restored in the late-1980s and carefully

As the Heritage Certificate
confirms, this early pull-handle MGB Roadster was built in January 1965 as a RHD
UK market car and was originally finished in Iris Blue with a blue interior and
was supplied new via John Bryant & Son Ltd of Bromsgrove.
A DVLA print-out records the details of nine previous owners from
1976 – 2017 and a colour change from blue to red in 1986 which was presumably
when the car was restored.
An engineer’s report from
September 1989 declares the car to be in “generally excellent condition” and
refers to a fully restored body shell with new wings, floor sections, sills and
doors, a reconditioned gearbox and a good engine (which is original to the car)
with no oil leaks.
There are tons of invoices for
subsequent upkeep including lots of new parts in 2010/11 including a new clutch,
new brake discs, various trim parts and a new unleaded cylinder head from Brown
& Gammons which cost £420.
Other bills of note include a
new radiator in 2012; conversion from dynamo to alternator in 2014; new bumpers
in 2015 plus many other routine service items.
There are
17 old MOTs which show the mileage rising gently from 42,136 in 1999
to 53,637 in 2016 (when it passed with no advisories) and it has only covered
3,500 miles since, the odometer currently showing 56,179 miles.
Our vendor acquired the car in February 2017 and has used it lightly
in fine weather only, driving it some 150 miles to the auction on a very hot day
with no problems whatsover. The
MGB comes with a fold down hood and frame fitted to the car and the original
fold-away frame is in the boot, as is the tonneau cover and tonneau cover
frame.
As you can see in the
photos, this early MGB Roadster looks most attractive and has been starting
promptly and driving nicely on site, with good 50psi oil
pressure.
