Description
Older
restoration in good order throughout; later 1,275cc engine; recent service and
new brakes; full set of weather gear; steel bonnet; driven 20 miles to the sale;
ready to enjoy
First registered in Kent in
February 1959, this pretty little Frogeye sadly comes with no history but it has
clearly been well restored at some point in the not-too-distant past.
The previous owner acquired the car from the estate of a friend in the
autumn of 2023, more to help the family out than anything else.
The V5C
records the engine capacity as 1,275cc and it does appear that the engine in the
car is indeed a 1,275cc A-Series unit fitted with twin carbs so it should be
producing around 75bhp rather than the 43bhp of the standard 948cc
engine.
The V5C also records just one former keeper but this is
inaccurate because the previous owner knows that while his friend had owned the
car for many years, he hadn’t owned it from new. He does know that it had just
had new brakes fitted shortly before he acquired it and he serviced it himself
shortly after buying it.
The MOT history online shows that the car was in
light but regular use from 2006 to 2012, clocking up 1,400 miles over this
period, and it has only covered around 200 miles since the last MOT was issued
in July 2012.
It comes with a full set of weather gear (hood;
sidescreens; tonneau cover) all in good condition, plus a spare wheel
and wheel brace.
Our vendor acquired the car via Brightwells a year ago
and has taken it to a local car shows, reporting that it goes very well. It was
also driven 20 miles to the sale. Sadly his declining health means that he is no
longer able to enjoy the car, hence its appearance in this sale.
Starting
promptly and running very nicely as we have moved it around on site, with good
40psi oil pressure, this pepped-up Frogeye looks most attractive and is
ready for a new owner to enjoy.
