Supplied new by
Wood of Bournemouth in August 1996, this BMW 728i has had just three owners from
new, the second of whom also bought it from Wood and kept it for 25 years (1999
– 2024) during which time it was registered as A2 KTE.
It has covered 81,440 miles and comes with a good service history
including 10 stamps in the service book, the last at 59,950 miles in November
2013, with many supporting invoices. There are also invoices for subsequent
upkeep including another service in February 2022 at 76,357 miles. A full
set of handbooks is also present in the original BMW wallet – leather of course,
as you would expect with a 7 Series.
Finished in
Oxford Green Metallic with a Sand Beige Montana leather interior. It is powered
by BMW’s silky-smooth 193bhp M52 2.8 straight-six mated to Steptronic 5-speed
transmission with Sport mode which lets you drive it like a manual if you want
to get a move on. It is packed with all the usual 7 Series luxuries, including
optional rear parking sensors and green glass sunroof.
Said to drive as well as it looks, it has certainly been starting
promptly and running very sweetly indeed as we have moved it around on site,
although we did note that the headlining has drooped at the back (a common
problem with older BMWs).
It has an MOT until August 2025 with no
advisories recorded, nor has it had any advisories for the last 9 years – always
the sign of a properly maintained car. At the last MOT the tester recorded the
mileage as 83,489 which was presumably a mistake. It certainly wouldn't be the
first time we have seen this error as it is an easy thing for a rushed
mechanic to get wrong, especially on the pixel-type odometers, as
here.
We are big fans of the E38 at
Brightwells and the styling is so much more elegant than the
later Bangle-and-beyond cars. Put some nice 18” BMW M-Parallel wheels on this
728i and it would really look the business!
