First
registered in November 1985, purchased as an ex-demonstrator by our vendor's
parents in April 1986 from W Holloway Ltd in Hereford, this cool, retro Volvo
340 GLE has remained in sole ownership until now, with just one previous owner
on the logbook (the Volvo dealership).
Fitted with its original 1.7
Litre, 8-valve inline four, sending its 82bhp to the rear wheels via a manual
5-speed transmission, the car has been starting, running and driving very nicely
on site.
Only used for special occasions from church on Sundays to family
events, this Volvo has been garaged its entire life, and with its minimal use is
only showing 32,220 miles on the clock, coming with MOT until April 2025, with
just one advisory for a corroded/ grease covered brake line.
The history
file contains the service book showing 10 service stamps, the latest in May 2015
where the odometer read 30,301 miles, (giving this GLE an average service
interval of just 3,222 miles), the original owners handbooks and 22 old MOT
certificates.
The striking interior looks to be in superb condition, wear
is very minimal, the rear seats look as though they have hardly been sat in, the
body looks very well for the age, the front arches are showing some light
corrosion, however the rest of the bodywork would come up very nicely with a
good machine polish.
Coming out of a short period in storage, fitted with
a new battery for its MOT, this must be one of the cleanest lowest mileage Volvo
340s left, and offers a rare opportunity to grab yourself a well-cared for, very
original retro '80s Volvo.
