This impressive two-owner
Plus 8 was delivered in the classic livery of Connaught Green with Stone
upholstery piped green. Morgan's most popular combination. Its first
owner also used his pen freely to tick lots of option boxes, as shown on the
original factory order form, and more extras have been added
since.
Supplied through SGT in Taplow, Berkshire, it was first registered
on 4th September 1999. Its first owner was to keep it until 2016, by which time
it had only covered 7,800 miles.
Extras ordered from the factory included
chrome wire wheels, a walnut dashboard, extra tread rubbers on the wings, radio
prep, leather upholstery, sports seats, carpeting to the chassis rail, full
rustproofing; taller four-seater screen, black mohair hood and tonneau and of
course door handles!! The original bill of sale shows that it cost
£38,000.
SGT cared for the car for the first few years, Mole Valley
Morgan selling the car to its new owner in 2016 for £40,465.
Mole valley
undertook its next service later that year (£1,441), subsequent care being
undertaken by Mark Baldwin's team at the factory in Malvern.
They
saw it in 2018 by which time the mileage had increased to just 10,025, in 2019
at 12,017 miles, in 2020 at 13,613 miles and shortly after for a set of new
chrome wires (£4,438). An overheating issue was sorted in December 2021
(£1,362), its most recently recorded service taking place at 13,907 miles in May
2021, just 1,150 miles ago.
Other subsequent additions to the car
include a leather bonnet strap, mesh grille insert, wood-rim steering wheel,
sidescreen bag (blue) and a luggage carrier. The headlights have
anti-dazzle deflectors which suggest some Continental motoring, a task for which
the car would be eminently suitable.
With it's low-owner, low-mileage
status, this well-specc'd Plus 8 offers exceptional value. It's recent extensive
servicing back in the hands of the factory and it's fresh wires only
enhance it's appeal.
