Supplied new by JCT600 Porsche of Leeds in August 1998 this
striking 986 series 1st Generation Boxster still looks good, as a
proper Modern Classic should.

Red (L84S) and wearing the desirable Aero kit, the car looks well with its
removable body-coloured hard-top, black Mohair soft-top with new rear screen and
grey 17inch 996 Carrera look Twist staggered fitment alloy wheels
(396).
The car was well optioned from the
factory, the options sticker confirming the following extras were fitted –
left hand heated seat (139), stronger battery (197), headlamp washer (288),
right hand heated seat (340), CD compartment (424), 6-speaker sound system
(490), wind deflector (551), automatic air conditioning (573), front centre
console (581), storage box (584), on-board computer (659) and leather seats
(946) finished in attractive Savanah leather (H8).
Sitting in the middle, we find the 2.5-litre flat-six M96.20
engine, which develops 201bhp driving the rear wheels via five-speed manual
transmission offering sufficient performance for most with the dash to sixty
coming up in just 6.7 seconds with a top speed of 149mph.
The car comes to us from its Bristol-based owner who’s been forced
to sell due to the Bristol ULEZ equivalent scheme, the car not complying, thus
he’s been forced to change to a newer Boxster much to his frustration having
enjoyed the car for the last year.
The car
shows 113,491 miles which is backed up by an impressive 19 service stamps in the
accompanying service booklet, the last by Devon based Porsche Specialist Flat
Six Classics at 110,356 miles in April 2022. In addition, the service book
includes a further seven stamps for brake fluid changes, six for Long-Life
condition reports and three more for air bag checks.
In addition, the history file includes three old MOTs, a file of
supporting invoices for maintenance as well as the current MOT, valid until
December 2023 recording just one minor advisory.
