1995 Volvo 440 SE

Astounding 2-owner (1st until 2020) "out the box" 7,809 mile Volvo 440 automatic in SE spec with 2.0 litre petrol engine -  find another!?

Dating from November 1995, this very late model MkII version of the popular Volvo 440 series has covered just 7,907 miles and is in the kind of condition you might expect for that mileage.

The car is finished in Silver Dawn grey and comes to us in SE spec (the ‘business’ edition) although sans rear spoiler (usually standard on the SE model) and sits upon its original 15” alloy wheels. Inside, we find supremely comfortable grey cloth interior with electric front windows, ice-cold AC, electric mirrors, heated front seats, original Phillips radio/cassette player, central locking, head light wash/wipe and front fog lights.

Under the bonnet, we find the 2.0-litre four-cylinder B20 petrol engine which produces c.110bhp driving the front wheels via four-speed automatic transmission. Starting promptly and driven some 98 miles to us by the vendor the car has remained in sole ownership until April 2020 when the first owner died and it was passed to another member of the family.

The history file includes the V5C confirming just one previous owner, the owner’s pack and service book with seven stamps inc. PDI, the last in October 2002 at 3,986 miles by Lancaster Southend of Essex, who carried out all six services bar the PDI by which was carried out by Continental cars Ltd also of Leigh-on-Sea, Essex and the same postcode (likely the same dealership, under a new owner).

In addition, we find three further stamps for paint and body inspection plus the original purchase receipt for some £14,215 confirming the factory extras to include alloy wheels, metallic paint and Air conditioning, print-out from Volvo confirming its main dealer history including a timing belt and water pump change, two old MOTs and the current, valid until June 2023 recording no advisories and also showing the car to have been off the road between 2013 at 7,405 miles and May 2020 at 7,416 miles.
