1986 Alfa Romeo Spider S3 'Graduate' Edition

Very tidy example showing only two UK owners since import in '89 from the USA, indicating just 55,409 miles with much recent expenditure totalling some £6,680

Ever popular following on from the early car's immortalisation starring along side Dustin Hoffman in the motion picture 'The Graduate'. Indeed, this fine Series 3 U.S supplied car is in fact, a 'Graduate' special edition, finished in white with contrasting Nero vinyl interior with cream stitching. Imported by a UK dealer in 1989 it has had just two UK owners, the first using it as a daily driver covering some 30,000 miles with servicing undertaken by Bell & Colvill.

Our second owner kept the car for many years, much of that time spent in dry storage until it was sold to a dealer in 2018 showing just over 50,000 miles, believed genuine. Our vendor has since spent some £6,681 on remedial works both mechanical and cosmetic including removal of the dash pod for repair electrical faults including a broken speedometer. Further works included a replacement cylinder head with new shims, gaskets, a new radiator, new thermostat, a new lift pump in the fuel tank and new dizzy cap by Coombe Garage in August 2020 at a cost of £3,581.

Another invoice on file shows a further £653 spent on over mats, new windscreen, gear lever gaiter, fuel pump, brake pads, pair of springs etc in February 2020 from Classic Alfa parts. Furthermore, £700 was spent in March 2020 at Xtreme Paint Detailing on cosmetics including sill repair, bumper paint and machine cut and polish. The history file includes further invoicing in support of other parts and works carried out to make the car what we see here - and what a thing - it looks the business, sitting well on its period steel wheels with polished lips and black mohair hood.

This splendid S3 spider packs not only the zestier Bosch fuel injected 2.0 twin cam with delightful 5-speed manual 'box but also comes with a clean MOT running until October 2021. These Spider's are always popular and very usable making an excellent and most credible option to the traditional choice of an MGB and have seen their values steadily rising in recent times - long may it continue to do so!
