Desirable Carrera 4S specification; Tiptronic automatic gearbox;
showing 103,997 miles with 8 former keepers; offered without MOT for mild
recommisioning
Introduced in 1997, the Porsche 996
marked a significant change for the 911, becoming the first production
generation to adopt water-cooling for its flat-six engine. Retaining the
familiar 911 silhouette whilst bringing greater refinement and performance, the
996 proved an important evolution of the iconic sports car.
The Carrera 4S combined Porsche’s four-wheel-drive system with the
wider bodywork and distinctive styling of the Turbo but retained the naturally
aspirated 3.6-litre flat-six producing 320bhp. Offering an appealing blend of
performance, usability and everyday practicality, the Carrera 4S has since
become one of the more sought-after variants of the 996.
First registered in 2004, this smart example is finished in metallic
grey, complemented by staggered 18-inch Turbo alloy wheels and Porsche’s
automatic Tiptronic gearbox. The car has had eight former keepers, including our
vendor, and is displaying a reasonable 103,977 miles.
The black leather interior has worn well and presents in smart
condition, as does the exterior, with only the minor wear and tear expected of a
car of this age and mileage.
Whilst we are unable
to retrieve the car’s full original specification due to the absence of the
under-bonnet build sticker, it appears to feature Comfort specification electric
seats, PCM satellite navigation, digital climate control, heated seats and
electric sunroof.
The accompanying history file
contains the V5C and two invoices, including a £1,961 spend at Hereford
independent specialist Gerry Dovermans in July 2017 at 102,033 miles. This
included a 10,000-mile service, new coils and spark plugs and two rear tyres. A
further invoice from 2019 records £486 spent on alloy wheel
refurbishment.
The Porsche’s last MOT expired in
February 2023, with two minor advisories recorded at its previous test in 2022.
The car has covered just 280 miles since, suggesting that it has seen very
limited use in recent years.
Given the limited
recent mileage, bidders should expect some recommissioning work may be required
to return the car to regular road use. The Porsche is offered without a valid
MOT.
In summary, a seemingly well-specified
example of the increasingly popular 996 generation in desirable Carrera 4S
specification, offering an appealing opportunity for the enthusiast seeking a
rewarding recommissioning project.
